Weekly Forum Discussions – Class Project (Chapters 1-12)
Each week there will be a topic posted to the Discussion Forum on the EDU 310 (OL1) page on MyNCWC.EDU (under the Collaboration tab, then under the Forum tab). The initial response to the Discussion Forum must be posted by Thursdays 10:00 pm. Each candidate is to post his/her post to the discussion forum topic and then after seeing classmates’ responses he/she should respond to at least two posts. All postings should be well organized, checked for spelling/grammar, etc. and at least 50 words in length. Candidates are graded on participation and thoroughness of their responses. The posts will be indicators of weekly attendance.
Week 1: What Do You Expect?
This is the beginning of an 8 week online class about teaching and learning with technology. What do you bring to the class? What do you want to take away from this class? What do you expect?
Week 2: Acceptable Use Policy
When using the Internet with children, there are privacy and acceptable use issues. Describe the issues that give you the most concern and how you plan to address them when you become a teacher.

Week 4: What to Do with the Gifted?
Gifted students have special needs just as other students with unique needs. Imagine yourself the teacher of a gifted class. Select a lesson you are familiar with teaching and reflect on how it would need to be changed to address the needs of gifted students. What technologies would you employ to support this change?
Week 5: Your Digital Footprint - Awareness and Responsibility as a Future Teacher?
Watch the video : Your Digital Dossier As a future teacher what is your role in developing the digital citizenship of your students?
Week 7: Reflection? What Is the Value of Reflection? Why? When? Where? How? Who?
Week 8: Your Technology Literacy!
Consider your level of educational technology literacy as you complete this course. How competent do you believe you are in order to teach in a technology-rich environment? What other opportunities would you search for to become even more proficient in the use of technology in the classroom?

Go to a school in your area at North Carolina School Report Cards for 2012-13. Review the information in that report.
